Organise a Shinjig Ceilidh
Why book a ceilidh or barn dance for your big occasion?
Because they're great fun for all the family and are danced to the most toe-tapping, finger-snapping tunes known to man. The dances are usually done in 'sets' or groups of people, and with a partner, and are ideal for getting to meet new friends. Even beginners will find the dances fun, guided by the caller who explains and walks the crowd through each dance and then gives prompts as the music gets underway.
When you dance you will not just bob around on the spot, you will move around the dance floor so be sure to allow plenty of room. It's a good idea to forewarn your guests to bring comfortable shoes and light clothing so that they can dance comfortably without overheating.
Shinjig require a clear space to set up, ideally (but not essentially) a stage or raised area. There must be a safe thirteen amp power supply adjacent to the area and away from the dances.
The band is, of course, happy to negotiate specific arrangements for an evening but usually a barn dance or ceilidh runs between 8pm and 11.30, the evening being split into roughly equal halves with a supper break in between. Please don't forget the band when it comes to catering.
Well? What're you waiting for? Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for a great evening. |
